C.I.D. members are increasing their income potential and buying power. Consumers are responding by hiring them for all their decorating needs. Many C.I.D. professionals are opening their own decorating shops while others are enjoying working from home studios either part time or full time. Furniture stores are recruiting C.I.D. professionals to increase sales potential realizing that consumers are seeking the "new breed" of trained and Certified Interior Decorators.
Membership in C.I.D. allows individuals to be recognized by the consumer, the trade, and wholesale showrooms as trained professionals with C.I.D. designation and credentials.
What other Professionals are saying:
Charlotte Jensen, FASID Past President of the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) in an article published in the September issue of Interiors & Sources states:
“As NCIDQ and the professional associations IIDA, ASID, ICD and IDEC have been working to raise the bar for the interior design profession, other associations have been focusing on establishing credentials for the decoration industry. Any industry that decides to create guidelines and raise the professionalism of its industry deserves commendation – and the decoration community deserves no less."
Cary Johnson, FIIDA, Past President of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) states that “The design profession includes architecture, interior design and interior decoration. To single out the qualified specialist who does only the decorating portion of a project as less important or not as talented is neither fair nor accurate. Interior Decorators that are skilled and do their work in a manner that is respectful to the design and architecture of the building and its interior should be celebrated along with all other design professionals."
Gary Rosenberg, ASID, President of the Interior Design Educational Council (IDEC) recently stated in Interior & Sources that “If two organizations must exist, perhaps a logical solution for the profession's dilemma is to establish a distinct organization for Interior Decorators and another for Interior Designers."
C.I.D. and the term “Certified Interior Decorator" are a registered trademark filed in Washington, D.C. with the United States Patent and Trademark Office by Certified Interior Decorators International, Inc.
