C.I.D. Membership Classifications

Professional Member:

You must have completed a study course in Interior Design and Decoration at a college or by correspondence course or other private courses approved by C.I.D. (see list).

You will also be required to take and pass the C.I.D. entrance exam ($95.00). 

If you are self-employed, you will also be required to apply for a local business license and a Tax Resale certificate if required by your state.

Proof of employment (business card or letter) is required if you are working for a decorating firm or furniture store.

Professional members are entitled to use the following appellation: Jane Smith, C.I.D.

Associate:

If you are a student currently enrolled in an C.I.D. approved correspondence course or certification program you can join as an Associate member until such time as you've completed your studies.

Educational Affiliate:

This membership classification is provided for instructors, schools, colleges and correspondence schools who wish to become C.I.D. members.

Trade Affiliate:

Workrooms, showrooms, tradespeople,furniture companies and suppliers may apply for this C.I.D affiliation.
